Let's Hear It For the Boys!

Well, I've been told that it's time that I post something new... haha I knew I would have a hard time keeping up with this thing!

This picture is from a few weeks ago when the boys got together at our house to watch the Auburn football game and some UFC fights. I took this picture of some of the guys, and Aaron Hammons said, "Oh no! We're going in the scrapbook!" Then, Nate (my brother-in-law Nate, not Nate Hughes) said, "No- worse... we're going on the blog!" haha I just had to laugh. Since it has been almost three weeks, if it were anything else, I probably would have forgotten to post it by now, but I couldn't forget this. I just had to torture them! Don't they all just look so excited! ;-)

(Sorry this is a short post, but it's a start!)

Tag- I'm It!

Rules: 1.You have to post these rules before you give the facts.
2. Players, you must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.
3. When you are tagged you need to write your own blog-post containing your own middle name game facts.
4. At the end of your blog-post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Middle Name: Lynn

L- love to laugh

Y- young (that's kind of lame, I know, but this was a hard one!)

N- nurse

N- nearsighted (I hate trying to think of words to describe myself)

1. Do you like cheese? Yes (Colby & Monterrey Jack, string cheese, cheddar, american, swiss... just about everything... I even like bleu cheese, which a lot of people don't)
2. Have you ever been arrested? No
3. Have you ever shot a gun? Kind of... I practiced shooting a shot gun once, but it didn't have bullets in it, so I don't know if that counts or not. It was actually pretty fun. I may have been more scared if bullets had been involved though.
4. Your favorite song? I'm not very good at "favorite" questions. I don't think I really have one because there are so many songs and so many genres, and my "favorites" change all the time. A few of my favorites are "Remember When It Rained" by Josh Groban, pretty much anything by Shania Twain, "3x5" by John Mayer, "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz (Jared played it in his car one day about a month before we got engaged and said it was his song to me), "Making Memories of Us" by Keith Urban, "Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera, and "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan.
5. Do you get nervous before doctor appointments? Yeah, sometimes. It depends on what I'm going for.
6. What do you think of when you eat hot dogs? I miss the hot dogs at Alabama football games!
7. What's your favorite Christmas song? I love Christmas music!! I really like O Holy Night.
8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning? Usually milk or water depending on what I eat
9. Can you do push ups? Yes... I don't know how many I could do right now because it has been a long time since I have done any, and my arms have definitely gotten weaker.
10. Is your bathroom clean? Yeah, it's pretty clean right now except for the bathtub (that thing is so hard to clean!)
11. What's your favorite piece of jewelry? Well, my wedding ring is the most meaningful, but my engagement ring is probably my overall favorite.
12. Favorite Hobby? well, I'm on the computer a lot, but my favorite hobbies do not include the computer (okay- well aside from checking Facebook and people's blogs). I like playing sports (volleyball, softball, ultimate frisbee, flag football, etc.) I've recently started to scrapbook and have been trying to do more "crafty" things, and I always look forward to "Craft Day" with Alisha!
13. What are you listening to right now? Taylor making lots of noise!
14. What is the last thing you ate? Frosted Flakes
15. What one trait do you hate about yourself? hmm... only one? I procrastinate a lot. I'm late most of the time, and I could definitely be more organized. I'll just leave it at that.
16. Middle Name? Lynn, after no one in particular that I know of
17. Name 3 thoughts at this exact moment? "This is the third time that I've worked on this thing. I hope I finish it this time." "I wish Taylor would stop pulling on that cord." "Man, I'm tired because Taylor woke up way too early this morning."
18. Name the last 3 things you have bought. baby food, toothpaste, and streamers to decorate the house to celebrate Jared passing his test.
19. Name 3 drinks you regularly drink. water, milk, juice
20. Current worry right now? hmmm... no worries right now (which is unusual) except i hope Taylor takes a good nap today :-)
21. Current hate? I hate that I haven't exercised in forever!
22. Favorite place to be? anywhere with my family
23. How did you bring in the New Year? Hmmm... neither Jared or I can remember... we must have been sloppy drunk... hehe j/k
24. What is your quirkiest habit? I have many. I really don't like talking on the phone, so I usually try to avoid it if possible. When I fold towels or blankets, I have to fold them with the tag facing inward. I think I'm a little OCD sometimes. Sometimes I have to spell out words in my head (for no particular reason).
25. Name three people who will complete this and return? I don't know. Almost everyone has done it already.
26. How many siblings do you have? One brother, Neal, and his wife, Sarah, my sister-in-law; then on Jared's side I have 6 brothers-in-law (Barry, Shawn, Nate, Chris, James, and David) and 6 sisters-in-law (Kim, Dawn, Misty, Alisha, Cari, and Sarah)
27. Do you own slippers? There are probably some in my closet because I never throw things away, but I never wear them.
28. What shirt are you wearing? a shirt that is like a burnt orange color (??)
29. What shampoo do you use? I like to change it up a lot. I probably use Pantene the most, but right now, I'm using Sunsilk Defrizz.
30. Favorite colors? Greens and blues
31. Would you like to be a pirate? No
32. What songs do you sing in the shower? I used to listen to the radio a lot while I was in the shower, so i would sing whatever was on the radio, but I don't do that much now because I usually try to get a shower while Taylor is taking a nap.
33. Favorite female name? Well, I like Taylor, of course, and right now, I have several names that I love (don't steal them) ;-) Marissa, Sadie, Bella, Faith
34. Favorite male name? Jared, Landon, Drake, Thomas
35. What's in your pockets right now? nothing
36. Last thing that made you laugh? Taylor laughing
37. Best bed sheets as a child? no favorites
38. Worst injury you've ever had? probably a broken nose except the broken nose wasn't the bad part... it was the surgery to fix the broken nose
39. When's your birthday? June 24
40. How many TVs do you have in your house? 2
41. Who is your loudest friend? pretty much all of the Mayfields are loud and my brother's wife, Sarah, but they are all loud in the fun way and not in the annoying way
43. Does someone have a crush on you? well, hopefully Jared
44. Do you wish on shooting stars? Sure
45.What is your favorite book? I don't really have a favorite. I love reading the scriptures, anything by Nicholas Sparks, and I recently read The Five People You Meet in Heaven, and I really liked it.
46.What is your favorite age? I don't know if I have a favorite for me. I liked 18 because that's when Jared and I started dating, and I liked 19 because that's when I was baptized and my faith has continued to grow every year. My favorite age for Taylor so far is the age she is right now- between 8 and 9 months because she is so playful and fun, and I love to hear her laugh.
47. What song do/did you want played at your wedding? We had "When You Say You Love Me" by Josh Groban, "More Than Anyone" by Gavin DeGraw, "Forever and For Always" by Shania Twain, "Making Memories of Us" by Keith Urban, "You're the Inspiration" by Chicago, "You're my Better Half" by Keith Urban, and "To Where You Are" by Josh Groban (for my dad).
48. What song do you want played at your funeral? I have no idea. I haven't thought about it.
49. What were you doing at 12 am this morning? Just getting into bed because Jared and I stayed up late watching Heroes.
50. What was the first thing you thought of when you woke up? I hope Taylor goes back to sleep (she woke up at 6 am on a Saturday morning!)

Alright... I tag Ashley Aynes, Sarah Orton, Kim Campbell, and Heidi Simpson!

Congratulations, Jared!

Yesterday, Jared had to take the Series 7 exam for a license that he needs to work at Merrill Lynch. He has been studying for this exam ever since he started working there in April and has been working really hard the past few months. He hasn't felt very confident because he says that he hadn't been doing very well on the practice tests that he had been working on (although some people told him that the practice tests were harder than the real one). The test was in Decatur, and it is a very long test. I think he said it was like 250 questions, and you have six hours to take it! They got an hour long break during the test for lunch, and he called me and said that he didn't feel like it was going very well. He said it was so much harder than the practice tests he had taken and that the questions were worded differently, so I guess he was second guessing himself. To pass, you have to make a 70. He called me afterwards saying that he PASSED and scored like an 82 or something. Yeah, Jared!!!

Taylor and I made a sign that said, "Congratulations!" for him and hung it up with streamers. (Taylor helped by taking a nap enabling me to make the sign). Jared had soccer practice last night with the AYSO team that he is coaching, but when he got home, I had some enchiladas ready and surprised him with the sign!! I know he is very excited and relieved to have that over and done with (and now he will get a raise... woo hoo!).

Keep 'Em Coming!

Yeah! Taylor slept through the night again, and I got a full 8 hours of sleep!! Woo hoo!

Wrapped Around Your Finger

So, I have to share a very sweet story...

Last night, Jared and I were lying in bed about to go to sleep, and out of nowhere, he says, "You're a great mom- you know that? You have that little girl wrapped around your finger, and that little girl has me wrapped around her finger." It brought tears to my eyes! (Of course, the lights were out, so he didn't see that) It's just really nice to feel appreciated and to feel important. I needed to hear that!

Thanks, Jared! I love you, and I am so grateful for you!

Sweet Dreams Are Made of This

YEAH! It finally happened! Taylor slept through the whole night!! I must admit she has been doing better lately- usually only waking up once during the night (or early morning) usually around 4:00am, but sometimes waking up twice. Last night, she went to bed around 8:00pm, and I went to bed around 11:00pm. When I woke up- not to the sound of a baby crying, but on my own- I was expecting to look at the clock and see that it was 3:00, 3:30, 4:00, but NO.. it was 6:30am, and she was STILL asleep!! Of course, my first thought was I should go check on her to make sure she is okay, but then I talked myself into staying in bed and just enjoying the moment. She ended up waking up about 30-45 minutes later, but even then, I didn't mind getting up so early (I am NOT a morning person!) because for the first time in a very long time I was able to get several hours of noninterrupted sleep! Sure, it would be nice if she would start sleeping the whole night through EVERY night, but until then, I will cherish the few nights that she does.
